Come with us to Long Beach

Team Survivor San Diego will be racing in the 2011 Long Beach Dragonboat Festival. We are blogging our "virtual trip" to Long Beach between January 1, 2011 and July 30th 2011.

Our goal is to "paddle" the 100 miles from San Diego to Long Beach, and you can join us! As part of the San Diego based chapter of national Team Survivor the DragonBoat team invites you to follow us as we journal our weekly practice sessions, and log in our miles. The Organization's goal is to bring fitness and health and wellness programs to women cancer survivors at no cost to the participant.

It is 100.+- miles from Fiesta Island, our home base, to Long Beach Marine Stadium, the race site.
Between January 1 and the day of the race, July 30th, we have to log in 100.99 miles accumulative, during our practice sessions.
We practice every Sunday, and then eventually add Thursdays and Tuesdays to our schedule.

We will track our mileage using Garmin Connect and post our weekly progress. As an example, visit survivors/open combo team by cheance at Garmin Connect - Details

Additionally we will land-chart our miles up the coast, highlighting various locations we may be "passing" in our virtual travelogue. Using the GarminConect example above we would have exited Fiesta Island, and got about as far as the In-n-Out Burger joint at the on-ramp to I 5 north.
While not the healthiest place to eat, I do think they have the best fries.

We will invite each of our teammates to blog their stories of this virtual trip to Long Beach. The more creative we are, the more intrigued you will be, and more likely to follow our journey.

Please visit the site often after January 1 and "travel" with us on our journey to Long Beach in 2011.

Financial contributions are greatly appreciated
